Pantelleria is a very special island. The black volcanic cone lost in the sea between Sicily and Africa is an expression of intense, identity-driven character, even in the simplest agricultural products.
Battista Belvisi, grower, winemaker, cellarer and oenologist together with Beppe Fontana, itinerant foodie and glamorous chef, in 2015 created what was then a tiny entity called Abbazia San Giorgio, whose vineyards, three and a half acres located in Khamma are in the southeastern part of the island.
Since then Abbazia San Giorgio has grown both in terms of national and international recognition of the quality of its wines, now exported to many foreign countries, and in terms of production.
