Fodere Castel Merlo: history and wine excellence between Franciacorta and Valcalepio
Between the hills that mark the border between Franciacorta and Valcalepio, stands Podere Castel Merlo, a place rich in charm and history. Its origins date back to at least the 9th century, as evidenced by a document from 912 AD, when the castle was at the center of feudal disputes. Over the centuries, it has gone through medieval wars, changes of ownership between noble families, and even Venetian rule, which transformed it from a fortress to a country residence.
Carefully restored, today the castle recounts its past through its restored 16th-century frescoes and an atmosphere that blends history, elegance and innovation.
18 hectares of vineyards between tradition and innovation
