A piece of land that allows the cultivation of a wide variety of vines, which give life to fresh and fragrant white wines and full-bodied and decisive red wines now renowned throughout the world.
There is a place, in the Colli Orientali del Friuli, where the heart meets the earth and where the values of a family find their most sincere expression in the production of great wines. IT IS THE RONCAL. A small estate of 20 hectares in Cividale del Friuli, a UNESCO World Heritage city. Here Martina Moreale continues the project started in 1986 by the husband Roberto, founder of the company.
The name of the company, IL RONCAL, in Friulian means "farm, situated on a hill and cultivated with terraces", and in fact
it is precisely the hums that dominate this evocative landscape. The hums of the vineyards surrounding the hill Montebello, the company's headquarters, are favoured by an excellent exposure and sandy-marly soil, ideal for for the cultivation of the vine.
At IL RONCAL all the phases of the production of the wines are carried out with care and calm, respecting the rhythms. It is harvested late, in order to harvest the grapes in their most generous maturity. Vinification is carried out in the cellars of the farm according to traditional methods and at a controlled temperature. The company has an underground room for the maturation and refinement of wines in wood and a ventilated room for drying
of the grapes. Once again a perfect combination of tradition and modernity.
On the hill of Montebello, the recently renovated and expanded cellar houses an area dedicated to the sale of of the winery's wines.
One of the two towers of the building is reserved for tasting moments with an evocative view of the surrounding vineyards.
For wine lovers IL RONCAL offers the opportunity to make guided tastings of their wines in the cellar or, in summer, under the large porch outside.
After a careful selection, each wine is proposed in combination with typical products of the Friulian food and wine tradition, to enhance the taste and to suggest its use at the table.
