Lovely little courtyard in the foothills, just outside Verona, in the heart of Valpolicella, a land of great oenological traditions. A tufa arch with an ancient heraldic coat of arms in the centre gives access to a stupendous 16th century patriarchal house: this is where the Farina family originated.
The winery was founded at the beginning of the 20th century, out of a passion for vines and good wine, and the ingenuity and desire of its founders to enhance and spread the enormous wine-growing potential of their homeland. The baton is now in the hands of the two cousins Alessandro and Pietro, flanked by Claudio, Elena, Nicola and Davide, the faces of the young and enterprising third generation.
Ten hectares are cultivated in the areas surrounding the farm, plus another 35 hectares owned by long-standing and esteemed collaborators. The grapes are autochthonous, respecting tradition and the peculiarities of the territory.
A small stone staircase leads to an ancient cellar, dug into the lap of mother earth, where the temperature fluctuates between 12-15°C. Here the solid oak barrels still retain the appearance of "good old times" and are used to mature jewels such as Recioto, Amarone and Valpolicella Classico Superiore, the pride of Valpolicella Classica. Soave Classico, Lugana, Bianco di Custoza and Bardolino Classico, as well as the prestigious crus, Rosso Veronese "Corte Conti Cavalli" and Ripasso "Vigna Montecorna", complete the company's range.
The new Spumante Prosecco Extra-Dry was well received and for lovers of spirits there was an excellent Grappa di Amarone. The flagship of the company is the Amarone Riserva "Montefante", produced from the grapes of the Montefante variety.
The long experience, from which the careful selection for the autochthonous grapes, as well as the scrupulous care sought in the phases of withering and in the ancient technique of Ripasso, are accompanied by constant experimentation and a continuous look towards technological innovations. Hence the search for modernisation in the use of processing, storage, packaging and bottle-ageing techniques.
