Cantine del Notaio, in the green heart of Basilicata, has dedicated its commitment and research to exploring the full oenological potential of Aglianico, which, in Vulture, finds its best expression due to a happy combination of temperatures, rainfall and soil due to the presence of volcanic tuff that "nurses the vines."
The company has about 40 hectares divided in particularly suitable areas of 5 municipalities of Vulture.
Extraordinary conditions for the aging of wines in ancient tufa caves dating back to the 1600s, which belonged to the Franciscan Fathers and are developed on about 1,500 square meters of underground spaces, ensuring a very high humidity, constant throughout the year.
The winery, from the scientific study of the grape variety and a recovery of ancient traditions, produces 16 different wines, 14 of which are based on Aglianico del Vulture and the others with grape varieties such as Moscato, Malvasia, Chardonnay, Fiano and Sauvignon.
The Aglianico del Vulture "Il Notaio" was awarded "Best Aglianico in the World" at the Decanter World Wine Awards 2022.
Cantine del Notaio is pleased to welcome new friends and guests from Italy and abroad to taste wines, visit the ancient Franciscan caves of volcanic tuff that radiate around the Facìle, tell you about stories and traditions of the area and trivia about the winery's history and special features...for example? Do you know what the winery's name comes from and how come the wine labels all have names inherent to the legal field? It all starts with Antonio Giuratrabocchetti.
Sundays only by request.
