Fattoria Montereggi has been present for almost a century on the green hills of Fiesole, located 12 km from Florence and still full of their healthy rural and natural atmosphere that smells of wood, water, sweaty fronts, calloused hands and lots of will. It is in fact since 1926 that our family, from generation to generation, has been committed to creating an all Tuscan extra virgin olive oil and red wines, such as Chianti DOCG, white, rosé and raisin wines, all genuine and high quality products.
The careful communion of a safeguarded tradition and selected innovation, together with the protection of the incredible peculiarities of our hills and the dignity of the people involved in the work, are our guiding principles; but the cornerstone that accompanies us during all the production processes is our passion, which has remained unchanged since the beginning of the company.
Since the '80s Silvia and her husband Valerio Cavalloni have been taking care of Fattoria Montereggi with passion and professionalism, following the family tradition, bringing innovations such as the bottling of wine with denomination of origin (Chianti DOCG), the packaging of wine in the Bag in Box, the further improvement of the quality of the products, looking for new markets, especially in the catering industry, giving development and well-being not only to the company but also to the area where it resides.
The work of Silvia and Valerio in recent years has been supported by the help of their children Pietro, Giorgio and Enrico. In 2015 the management of the farm is handed down and carried on by Giorgio, giving it further freshness and renewal.
Curiosity. The name Montereggi derives from the Goth king Radagaiso, who invaded Italy in the early 400s. His inexorable advance had suffered a heavy setback at Fiesole, where he was severely defeated by the Roman army. As a place of retreat, he chose the hill of Montereggi; in fact, the name derives from Mons Regis, which means King's Mount. Legend has it that it was here, in Montereggi, that the king of the Goths hid his treasure to prevent it from being stolen by the Romans. Who knows if something precious is hidden under the floor of the cellar?
Fattoria Montereggi is located in a unique landscape. Situated in the municipality of Fiesole at an altitude of over 400m in the Mugnone Valley and less than 15 minutes from Florence, it offers the opportunity to appreciate the Tuscan countryside in all its beauty! In particular, here in the open air and immersed in nature it is still possible to live appreciating the taste and simplicity of things of the past, a glass of wine, spring water, bread with oil, the shade of cherry, walnut and apricot trees.
